French & Indian War Re-enactment. Located it the Speculator Ball field across from the Village Beach.
Friday 10th
9am: Open for Re-enactors to set up encampment. NOTE: Please do not come on Thursday, because of a craft fair that will be happening on that day, however, if you are a Sutler and would like to sell your merchandise at the craft fair, contact the Speculator Chamber of Commerce at (www.adrkmts.com).
3pm – 5pm: Registration Tent Open
10am: Children’s morning program with Colonial games and other activities. Serving hot dogs and ice cream afterwards.
8pm: Music Concert with special commission music by Robert Brown, a home grown native of Lake Pleasant. 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky with fireworks over the lake afterwards. NOTE: The “Pretty Good Band is hiring cannons for the musical “1812 Overture”. Contact Anne Weaver, if you would like to fire you cannon at the concert. Contact Info: 518-548-8351.
All day there will be a Victorian Stroll. If you have Victorian or American Civil war outfits, this is a good time to show them off. Victorian Swim Wear and Steampunk styles will also be worn through-out the day.
Saturday 11th
9am – 5pm: Registration Tent Open
2pm: Firing Demonstration (Battle)
4pm-6pm: Giff’s BBQ will be selling food in the pavilion.
5pm: Rural Felicity Concert will be held just outside the pavilion at the gazebo during Giff’s BBQ.
Night Fall: Cannons Firing over the lake at Osborne Point near the beach.
Sunday 12th
11am: Ecumenical Church service with area churches involved. At pavilion. NOTE: Feel free to join. Please do not fire muskets during the service.
12 pm: Firing Demonstration (Battle)

BICENTENNIAL SCHEDULE
JANUARY:
Jan. 7th, Sat., 7pm: “Kick-off” at school. Video presentation on history of Lake Pleasant and schedule activities, “Azalea and the Good Ole Boys” singing, raffle of t-shirt, hat and flag, town crier, pamphlet of events.
Jan. 21st, Sat., 7pm: Verplanck Colvin and Lake Pleasant: talk with Fran Gramlich, talk on Colvin the surveyor, his life, bear story with Dave Sturges the guide and much more. At the school.
FEBRUARY:
Feb. 20th, Mon., 10am: What Does 200 Mean to You: design something that reminds you of 200 years. Could include nature like pinecones, spell out 200 with macaroni, 200 pennies, anything that represents 200 and we will display them on the wall in the Lane Emporium.
MARCH:
Mar. 17th, Sat.: Irish Road Bowling: start setting up a team of four. More details coming.
Mar. 24th, Sat., 10am: Tour of Sugar Houses with Jack Wax Party afterwards.
APRIL:
Apr. 7th, Sat.: At Lake Pleasant Methodist Church: Reenactment of the first Town Meeting. Reading of the minutes of April 7th, 1812 and who were involved. Proclamations.
Apr. 27th, Fri.: Arbor Day, planting of a tree with a plague about the Bicentennial tree. Possibly children involved.
Apr. 27th, Fri., 7pm: “Our Early Settlers”, learn who our early settlers were, where they came from, why they came. Including such families as Courtney, Dennie, Dunham, Dunning, Page, Peck, Nichols and several more. At the school.
MAY:
May 19th, Sat., 10am: Tour of County Buildings with County Historian Bill Zullo
May 26th, Sat. 9am-3pm: Black Fly Flea Market. More details coming.
JUNE:
June 2nd, Sat. 10am and 2pm: Tours of the Camp of the Woods
June 8th, Fri., 7pm: “War of 1812” showing at the school. Have ever wonder what really happened during the War of 1812? Showing of the video with TWIGS selling desserts.
June 16th, Sat., 10am: Time Capsule with children helping. More info coming.

JULY:
July 1-15th: Sparc Ham Radio Club will be broadcasting on a special frequency, K2S, during these two weeks. They will be station at different locations and times throughout this time period. See if you can find them and ask questions about HAM radios.
July 7th: 4th of July Parade with theme “Past, Present, Future of Lake Pleasant”. Fireworks at 9:30pm
July 10th, Tues., 2pm: Tour of Col. Peck’s Cemetery. Col. Peck was a Revolutionary officer in Rhode Island and came to Lake Pleasant to settle. There are still Pecks in Lake Pleasant descended from Col. Peck.
July 11th, Wed.: LPSA camp tour of camps on the Lake Pleasant. Cost of $10 to benefit the Bicentennial Com. More details coming.
July 18th, Wed.: LPSA tour of camps on Lake Sacandaga. Cost of $10 to benefit the Bicentennial Com. More info coming.
July 21st, Sat., 10am: Tour of the County Buildings with County Historian Bill Zullo.
July 24th, 2pm: Tour of Rhinelander’s Estate. Phillip Rhinelander owned much of the eastern part of Speculator. Remains of mansion and some out buildings can be seen.
